The OLMA College Guidance team is exceptional at navigating the college admissions process.

The mission of OLMA’s Guidance Department is to create a nurturing environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing for life beyond high school.

Guidance begins the moment students arrive freshman year. Our counselors provide individualized support to ease the transition, helping students build confidence, manage stress, and feel connected within the school community. Counselors also begin exploring college and career interests with students, encouraging leadership, service, academic growth, and extracurricular involvement. Throughout all four years, students are introduced to helpful tools and programs to keep them on track.

Year-round programming supports college and career readiness through events like Instant Decision Day, Mock Interviews, Career Day, college rep visits, and our annual College Fair. At every stage, OLMA’s Guidance Team is a steady source of support, helping students grow with confidence and purpose.

The Class of 2025 earned more than $20 million in scholarships and accumulated 300 college acceptances.

College Counseling

Through classroom lessons and one-on-one advising, the Guidance Team ensures every student is well-prepared for the college admissions process. Juniors take part in an interview and résumé-writing seminar to prepare for Mock Interview Day. OLMA’s Guidance Team partners with college admissions professionals to host a Common Application essay boot camp for rising seniors, helping them craft standout essays.

Each fall, OLMA hosts an annual College Fair for all Juniors and Seniors, providing students with valuable opportunities to connect directly with admissions representatives from a wide range of colleges and universities. In addition to the fair, College Admissions Advisors regularly visit campus throughout the fall to offer guidance and answer questions as students prepare for the next step in their academic journey.

Instant Decision Day is one of the most exciting days on campus each year as seniors have the opportunity to interview with select colleges and make an admissions decision on the spot.

Career Exploration

Each year, OLMA hosts a group of professionals who speak about their careers, share their experiences and provide helpful tips and advice.  If you are interested in being part of our next Career Day, please reach out to Mrs.Duke at mrs.duke@olmanj.org.

When it comes to preparing for interviews with potential employers or colleges, practice makes perfect. OLMA juniors dress for success and, with resumes in hand, students participate in Mock Interview Day each spring. Before Mock Interview Day, students participated in resume writing and interview skills workshops.

OLMA juniors have the opportunity to spend a day each spring getting a real-world feel for careers that interest them. Students have shadowed professionals from every walk of life, including doctors, surgeons, veterinarians, physical therapists, police officers, attorneys, elementary school teachers, cyber-security professionals, engineers, and more.
