Welcome to the OLMA Sisterhood

Congratulations!  You made it and we could not be happier to welcome you to the OLMA family and Class of 2024.  You are about to embark on four of the most memorable years of your life and we are so glad that you chose to spend them at OLMA.

To make it easier for you to ready to join us in September, we’ve created this class page.  On it, you will find valuable resources including forms, key dates, information on academics and enrichment courses, a list of frequently asked questions with answers, and so much more.  This page will be your one-stop-shop for preparing for freshmen year.

We hope you find this resource helpful.  As always, if you have questions, or have a suggestion for something we may want to add, please email OLMA’s Admissions and Marketing Director, Mary Jane Kinkade at mrs.kinkade@olmanj.org.

Again, welcome.  We will see you on campus soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

We are happy to answer your questions.  To get you started, we’ve compiled a list of the ones that are asked most frequently.

Where can I be measured for and purchase uniforms?

Cheryl’s Uniforms, located at 2100 North Delsea Drive in Vineland will take care of all your uniform needs.  While you can order online, we recommend visiting Cheryl’s for measurements.  While you’re there, you can see samples of all uniform pieces and place your order. You can reach Cheryl by phone at (856) 696-0141.  More information on uniforms can be found below.

What time does school begin and end each day?

The warning bell sounds at 8:08 AM and students are due in Homeroom by 8:10 AM.  Dismissal begins at 2:38 PM.

What kind of clubs do you offer and how many can I choose?

We offer more than 12 clubs each semester.  Some last all year while others change in the second half of the year.  Some of our most popular clubs include Archery, Bake Club, Debate Club, Spanish Club, Interact, Dance, Filmmaking, Green Girls, Student Government, Chorus Angelorum, and Forensics.  Students choose clubs twice each school year — in September and January.  You may select two clubs each semester, or choose to use one of your club periods for Quiet Study time.  Clubs meet every Thursday. Additional information and a new club catalog will be provided this fall.

When is the first day of school?

The first day of the 2020-2021 School Year is currently set for Monday, August 31, 2020.  We will notify you of any changes.

How many sports do you offer and can I play more than one in a season?

OLMA offers 15 competitive sports!  Fall season includes soccer, volleyball, cross country, field hockey, cheer, and tennis.  Winter sports include basketball, swim, bowling, and indoor track.  Spring sports include crew, lacrosse, track and field, softball, and golf.

Because of the practice schedules and the level of commitment necessary to play on a sports team, students may only participate in one each season.  For additional information about OLMA Athletics, check out the Athletics Section of our website or email our Athletic Director at mr.lenguadoro@olmanj.org.

Can I take Honors and AP courses as a freshman?

Freshmen do have the option of taking Honors courses on approval from our Dean of Academics.  She will work with you to determine your course levels.  Placement testing is also available for students who wish to take advanced Math and Languages.   Because Advanced Placement courses require prerequisites, most students do not take them until junior year.

What foreign languages do you offer?

The sky’s the limit when it comes to foreign languages at OLMA.  While we offer Spanish and American Sign Language in the traditional classroom setting, students have the option of taking the foreign language of their choice online.  Those courses are taken on campus with a faculty moderator present.

When will I meet my Big?

The OLMA Big-Little Program is your entre into the Sisterhood.  This summer, you will receive a letter in the mail from your Big.  She will introduce herself and provide her contact information so you can get in touch right away.  Stay tuned for information on a special Big-Little event!  For now, save the date:  Wednesday, August 26!

Does OLMA have an arts and music program?

OLMA offers many opportunities to get involved in the arts.  We offer Art and Graphic Design courses, as well as Art and Yearbook clubs where you can practice your craft.  If you are a musician or love to sing, Mrs. Blackshear wants to know!  OLMA has a Chorus Angelorum that features singers and instrumentalists.  She also leads our Select Chorus.  Each fall, OLMA joins  St. Augustine Prep in a musical production.  It is always spectacular and offers many opportunities to sing, dance, act, and work behind the scenes.  Watch for information about tryouts in August.   In the spring, St. Augustine Prep and OLMA present a Cabaret performance at Landis Theatre in Vineland.  These are just some of the many ways to use and further develop your talents during your time at OLMA.

What kind of computer do I need?

All OLMA freshmen will need a Chromebook.  We recommend each Chromebook has at least 4GB of Memory (also known as RAM) for speed and reliability.  The processor (CPU), brand, and hard drive (storage) are not as important and families can make decisions on these features based on price, preferences, and availability when shopping.  Some Chromebooks provide touchscreen functionality; however, this is not a requirement and can be seen as a preference.  It is recommended that a protective case or sleeve is purchased for the Chromebook.  See the “Chromebook/Textbook” section below for more information on our Chromebook 1:1 Initiative.  If you have any additional questions, please email ms.valore@olmanj.org.

Will I have summer work to complete?

All OLMA students have summer reading assignments.  Watch your email for this information coming soon.

Will I need to set up a lunch account? Can I bring my own lunch?

The food at OLMA is delicious!  The OLMA Cafe is open for breakfast, break time, and lunch.  There are many grab-and-go options, as well as a hot meal every day complete with dessert.  The Cafe features a full salad bar Monday-Thursday and veggie sticks and dips on Fridays.  Students can also order sandwiches and salads to go.   Students may also bring in their own snacks and lunch.  Refrigerators, toasters, and microwaves are provided.

To set up a lunch account…(instructions to come).

Is a 2020-2021 School Calendar available yet?

We are still finalizing our school year calendar.  We will post it here and on our main website as soon as it is ready.

When will I receive a bus pass?

All incoming freshmen must have a B6T transportation form on file.  If you are not sure whether yours is in, please email mrs.cusick@olmanj.org and she will let you know.  If you will be using the bus transportation provided by St. Augustine Prep, you will receive a bus pass on your first day of school.  Students will not need a pass to ride the bus to school on day one.  For a list of bus stops please CLICK HERE.  If you have questions about your stop, please email mrs.cusick@olmanj.org.  Mrs. Cusick will notify you of any bus stop changes.  If you are a Vineland bus rider, you will receive a bus pass in the mail in August.

Are there any additional scholarship opportunities available for incoming freshmen?

There are three scholarship opportunities still available for incoming freshmen. The first two are the Corporate Mutt Living Your Faith Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen.  These are two, one-time, $500 awards.  The third opportunity is the Dana Dandrea Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship will award $2,000 per year for the next four years to one incoming freshman.  The application due date for both scholarships is June 12, 2020.  You can find more details and the applications in the Admissions section of our website or by CLICKING HERE.
