Founded and operated by the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, OLMA opened in September 1962to 52 young women, embodying the first freshman and sophomore classes. The school’s first principal was Sister M. Dolores, and Sisters Gertrude, Dominica, and Matthew Marie were the school’s first teachers.

OLMA students excel as they receive every opportunity to grow and mature academically, socially, and spiritually - and to discover themselves. At OLMA, students are involved in every facet of the school. Our girls find their voices and learn to use them to better themselves and others. On graduation day, we take pride in knowing that our students are well prepared and moving on as self-aware, well-spoken, and self-confident young women. We know that their time at OLMA - with its all-girls, faith-based, supportive environment - helped make it so.

Today, we continue to build on our strong foundation and are ableto offer our students more unique opportunities than ever beforeto grow academically, spiritually, and socially. We’re adding and upgrading the programs and tools they need to do it as well. Below are just some of these opportunities and additions.

We know that the decision to enroll at OLMA is a financial commitment for our families and represents an investment in their daughter’s future. Therefore, we work to ease the tuition payment through tuition assistance and financial aid providing help to families in need. We want to ensure that a young girl seeking an education at OLMA will be assured that opportunity. To honor the many female leaders who have come before, OLMA has established The Daughters of Mercy Legacy Tuition Assistance Fund.

Charitable Distributions

If you would like to give through your IRA, please contact your IRA administrator to make a check out to OLMA (see information below). If you are 70 1/2 years old and want to give through your IRA, you can possibly benefit by reducing your adjusted gross income, which can impact Medicare premiums and the taxability of Social Security benefits.

Beneficiary Information

If you would like to include OLMA as a beneficiary in your IRA, retirement plan, life insurance policy, or commercial annuities, please take these steps to make this type of gift.

Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form.
Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form. (See above information.)
Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.
Be sure to contact your estate planner to make sure the above is in line with your financial goals.

If you would like to give a gift of appreciated stock or securities to OLMA, please send an email to development@olmanj.org and include your financial advisor on the email to notify us of your intent.
