The search for colleges and scholarships go hand in hand. Fortunately, there are thousands of scholarships out there — if you can find them. Two ways to research opportunities include stopping by OLMA’s Guidance office and utilizing your Naviance account. Below is a list of current opportunities, We will update this list as new scholarships become available, so please check back often.
2019 Scholarship Opportunities:
AAA South Jersey Scholarship Contest – AAA South Jersey Driving School Is sponsoring its annual essay contest for local high school seniors. The winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship to a two-or-four year accredited educational institution. For more information, visit www.AAA.com/scholarship. The deadline for entries to be received by AAA South Jersey is March 31, 2019.
NJUA Excellence in Diversity Scholarship – The New Jersey Utilities Association awards a scholarship to a qualified, deserving New Jersey high school senior who meets the eligibility criteria. The Association will award two four year scholarships providing $1,500 per academic year to students selected by the Scholarship Review Committee who will be attending college in New Jersey. Requirements for eligibility, selection criteria and application forms can be found at www.NJUA.com. Deadline for submission is April 6, 2019.
National Association of Water Companies Scholarship – The New Jersey Chapter of the NAWC is offering two $2,500 scholarships to high school students who will be attending a New Jersey college or university and is interested in the water utility industry or any related field. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have been a New Jersey resident for 5 years. Scholarship applications can be found at www.njua.com (“News Feed” — Scholarships Now Available). Deadline for submission is April 1, 2019.
Project Yellow Light – Project Yellow Light is a scholarship competition designed to bring about change. People know texting and driving is dangerous, but they do it anyway. Applicants have one clear mission: create a PSA (billboard or video) to encourage friends to avoid distracted driving, specifically texting while driving. Submission requirements can be found on www.projectyellowlight.com. Deadline for billboard submission is March 1, 2019 and video submission is April 1, 2019.
Diocese of Camden Black Catholic Ministries’ Commission – The diocese will be awarding up to two scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to Catholic high school graduating twelfth-grade students. Applicants must be African American or of African descent and be a practicing Catholic. For more information, call (856) 583-2904 or see Guidance for an application packet. Deadline for submission is March 15, 2019.
Northfield Mothers’ League Scholarship – A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior that is a Northfield resident. A one page application and 250-word essay is required. Please see Guidance for an application. Deadline for submission is May 6, 2019.
Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame Scholarship – The Board of Trustees awards $500 scholarships each year to graduating college bound female seniors from Atlantic County. The applicants must demonstrate her excellence in academic achievement, as well as, leadership and community involvement. Please see Guidance for an application. Deadline for submission is February 28, 2019.
Austin H. & Florence V. Swackhamer Memorial Educational Scholarship – The A&F Swackhamer Memorial Scholarship Trust is providing scholarships for deserving students attending high school in Gloucester County, New Jersey that demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. Eligible scholarship candidates can apply online at www.csascholars.org/swkh. Deadline for submission is March 8, 2019.
Gloucester Township Day Scholarship – The Gloucester Township Day Scholarship Committee will award 45 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to be applied toward expenses at an accredited college or university. To be eligible, students must reside in Gloucester Township, earn a score of at least 800 on the SAT or a Composite Score of at least 17 on the ACT, and rank in the top 50% of her class or have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. New Jersey Electronic Security Association – Awarded to the daughter of an active duty NJ police or fire department employee. There are two scholarship awards: $1,500 (first place) and $1,000 (second place). Visit www.nj-esa.org/scholarship for more information and to submit application. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2019.
New Jersey State Elks Association Special Children’s Scholarship Award – This scholarship is available to any and all high school seniors that are physically and/or mentally challenged and will be furthering their education after graduating from high school. Students will be evaluated on their academic record and financial need. Please see Guidance for an application. Deadline for submission is April 19, 2019.
Janet Logan Daily Foundation – $10,000 evenly distributed over four years awarded to graduating high school seniors from New Jersey enrolling full-time in an accredited university or college. Applicants must meet the following criteria: students must have worked an average of 30 hours per week during the summer since the age of 16 (paid positions only), actively participate in at least one extra-curricular activity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
