Scholarship Opportunities

The search for colleges and scholarships go hand in hand.  Fortunately, there are thousands of scholarships out there — if you can find them.  Two ways to research opportunities include stopping by OLMA’s Guidance office and utilizing your Naviance account.  Below is a list of current opportunities,  We will update this list as new scholarships become available, so please check back often.

2018 Scholarship Opportunities:

Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program — Applicants must be able to demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower yearly family income), and display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Awards range from $7,000 to $25,000.   For more information go to:  
Gloucester County Hero Scholarship — For applicant who serve in a Fire or EMS agency in Gloucester County or have a parent actively serving or retired from  Police, Fire, and EMS agency at state or federal level.  For more information, visit:  Deadline:  May 1, 2018
Kevin P. O’Hara Scholarship from Margate City Fire Department Mutual Benevolent Association — Four scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded to seniors who are Margate City residents and will be attending an accredited College or University during 2018.  Deadline: May 4, 2018

Atlantic County Unico Scholarship Foundation — Seniors of Italian decent that live in Atlantic County may apply for awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.  You must register on the foundation’s website ( before completing the application.  Deadline is April 27, 2018.

 Vicin’ al Mare Lodge #2601 — This $1,000 scholarship is for high school seniors of Italian heritage. (One Italian parent is okay.)  The application includes a 300-word (or less) essay on how Italian heritage has influenced you, incorporating your education goals. Applications are available in the Guidance office.  Deadline to apply is April 15.

Dunkin Donuts Scholarship Program — Scholarship recipients will be selected from eligible high school seniors who demonstrate “well-rounded” character: positive academic record, demonstrated leadership, commitment to school and community activities, and experience in a work environment. This award is a $2,000 scholarship.  Deadline is April 15.  Apply online at

Diverse Minds Writing Challenge — The assignment is to write and illustrate a children’s book that tells a story of tolerance or diversity.  This submission is due by Friday, March 16.  Scholarships include:  $5,000 to first place winner; $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third.  Click here and see Mrs. Szawlewicz for more information

AAA South Jersey Driving School Scholarship — AAA South Jersey Driving School is sponsoring its annual essay contest for local high school seniors. The winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship towards a two-or-four year accredited educational institution.  The deadline for entries to be received by AAA South Jersey is March 31.  For more information, click here and see Mrs. Szawlewicz.

New Jersey Electronic Security Association — This is awarded to the daughter of an active-duty NJ police or fire department employee.  There are two scholarship awards:  $1,500 (first place) and $1,000 (second place).  Deadline:  March 23, 2018.  Click here for more information and the application:

Diocese of Camden, Office of Black Catholic Ministries and Cultural Diversity — The diocese offers two scholarship awards at $2,500 each for 12th grade students who are of African descent or are African American.  Applicants must be Catholic.  For more information, call: (856) 583-2907/2904.  Deadline is Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Atlantic Audubon Society —  The Atlantic Audubon Society is accepting applications for its two $1,000 Patricia and Carol Bristow Memorial Scholarships.  Girls living in and attending high school in Atlantic County who are planning a college major and career in the sciences, particularly environmental science, are eligible to apply.  For information or an application girls can contact their school guidance department or call 609-703-6329. Jeffery K. Israelow and R. Robert Fleming Scholarship Fund – This $500 scholarship is available to high school students who are full-time residents of Cape May County.  For more information, contact Dorothy F. Margate Business Association — This scholarship, in the name of Daniel and Maria Walters, is awarded to residents of Margate and Longport.  There are two $2,500 awards available.  Deadline:  April 9.   For more information or to download the application, visit the MBA website at:  You may also call: (609) 517-1793.

The Toni Donato-Bolis and Baby RJ Foundation Scholarship:  The foundation will award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors planning to continue their studies at any accredited College, University or Institute of Higher Learning.  Students will be chosen not only on their academic achievements, but also on their passion and desire to become active in the Foundation to represent awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.   Click here to learn more and download the application.  Deadline: April 4, 2018.

Atlantic County International Association of Insurance Professionals — Sponsoring two $500 scholarships to an Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland or Salem County High School senior graduating this year who will pursue a degree from any college or university.  The scholarships will be given to two seniors who complete a 500-word essay on one of two questions.  Essays are being judged on the quality of content.   Applications must be postmarked no later than April 28, 2018.  Please see Mrs. Szawlewicz for an application.

The Camden County Hero Scholarship Program —  Three scholarships are available to high school seniors who have a parent that’s actively serving in Camden County in the fields of law enforcement, fire or EMS.   Scholarships include:

  • $1,500 – to a graduating high school senior pursuing a career in law enforcement.
  • $1,500 – to a graduating high school senior pursuing a career in a fire service related field.
  • $1,000 – to a graduating high school senior who has a parent serving in law enforcement at the time of application.
