The search for colleges and scholarships go hand in hand. Fortunately, there are thousands of scholarships out there — if you can find them. Two ways to research opportunities include stopping by OLMA’s Guidance office and utilizing your Naviance account. Below is a list of current opportunities, We will update this list as new scholarships become available, so please check back often.
2020 Scholarship Opportunities:
Dirk Derrick Car and Truck Accident Injury Scholarship: The Dirk Derrick Car & Truck Accident Injury Scholarship is a $1,000 award for any current or soon-to-be undergraduate student in the United States who has had his or her life altered due to an injury from a car or truck accident, be it their own injury, that of a loved one, or an influential individual. The Dirk Derrick Scholarship has a brief submission process, and applicants will be judged on their ability to convey the lasting effect an auto accident has had on their life as well as their journey to overcome those challenges. Gloucester County Hero Scholarship Fund: The Scholarship program will be awarding several $500 scholarships to qualified individuals who are furthering their education in ANY post-secondary institution. Applicants must serve in a Fire or EMS agency in Gloucester County or have a parent actively serving or honorably retired from a Police, Fire or EMS agency in Gloucester County, New Jersey State Government or the Federal Government. Travis W. Watkins Tax Resolution & Accounting Firm Scholarship: The Travis W. Watkins Tax Resolution & Accounting Firm Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award for any current or soon-to-be student. The Travis W. Watkins Scholarship has a brief and 100% confidential submission process, and applicants will be judged on their ability to convey the importance of tax compliance as well as the journey of those challenges. Dunkin’ Scholarship: Dunkin’ will award 25 $2,000 scholarships to qualified students. Applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in Fall 2020. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of “well-rounded” character: positive academic record, demonstrated leadership, commitment to school and community activities, and experience in a work environment. Nextiva Essay Contest: Scholarship recipients will receive a one time $1,000 award. Applicants must plan to major in a business or STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) program and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To apply, visit https://www.nextiva.com/
Country Garden Club Helyn Utley Memorial Scholarship: Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded. Scholarship may be reapplied for depending on cumulative grade point average and attendance as a full time student. Applicants must be pursuing a 2 or 4-year degree in Horticulture studies, Agricultural studies or Environmental studies, be a resident of Gloucester, Salem or Cumberland Counties, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Copies of applications will be available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 15, 2020.
New Jersey Track and Field Officials Association: The Southern Bayshore Chapter of New Jersey Track and Field Officials Association will be awarding scholarships to one male and one female track and field athlete. Senior track and field athletes must have demonstrated a high degree of sportsmanship and character during their four years of high school. The student athlete will have been an outstanding representative of New Jersey track and field both on and off the track and have maintained at least a C+ average. Athletes must have participated in the sport for a minimum of two years on varsity. Applications will be available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is May 8, 2020.
The Rotary Club of Tri-County (VMBN) will award four scholarships in the amount of $500 each to graduating high school seniors (planning to attend college in the fall of 2020) or current college students. Applicants must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5, demonstrate leadership and good character, as well as a commitment to service. Margate Education Association Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships will be given by the Margate Education Association. Applicants must have been members of the graduation class of 2016 from Eugene A. Tighe School who will graduate from an accredited high school in June 2020. Copies of the scholarship application will be available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is May 1, 2020.
Vineland Rotary Scholarships: Vineland Rotary is offering 16 different scholarships. Applicants must complete the online application, submit official transcripts, and two recommendation letters. Application and specific scholarship requirements can be found at http://vinelandrotary.com/scholarships/. Deadline for submission is April 30, 2020.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties will offer scholarships to graduating seniors, each in the amount of $1000. Applicants must currently be a trained/matched High School Big Brother or Big Sister and has documented a minimum or 20 hours of participation in the program OR a High School Senior who is/was a Little that is/was either matched or waiting to be matched OR a High School Senior whose parent/guardian is a Big Brothers Big Sisters agency volunteer or staff member. Applications will be available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 15th.
PB&J Scholarship: The PB&J scholarship will award a $500 – $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior that will be attending a 2-year or 4-year college or university in Fall 2020. Application can be found by visiting http://bit/ly/pbscholars2020. Deadline for submission is May 31, 2020.
The Toni Donato-Bolis and Baby RJ Foundation: The Toni Donato-Bolis and Baby RJ Foundation will award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors planning to continue their studies at any accredited college, university, or institute of higher learning. Students will be chosen not only on their academic achievements, but also on their passion and desire to become active in the Foundation to represent awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. Applications will be available in the Guidance office and online at www.toniandrjfoundation.org. Deadline for submission is April 8, 2020.
Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition: The New Jersey State League of Municipalities will offer three $1,000 scholarships through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition. This statewide competition centers on the theme “What My Municipal Government Does Best” and seeks to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government. Applications are available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is March 11, 2020.
Italian Cultural Foundation of South Jersey: The Italian Cultural Foundation is offering several scholarships this year for both students who have studied Italian for a minimum of three years and other students, who, though not having studied Italian, appreciate the richness of Italian culture and its history. Applications are available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2020.
New Jersey State Elks Association Special Children’s Scholarship Awards: Two four-year scholarships (one female, one male) worth up to $2,500 per year, and two four-year scholarships (one female, one male) worth up to $1,000 per year will be awarded. Any and all high school seniors that are physically and/or mentally challenged and will be furthering their education after graduating from high school are encouraged to apply. Applications will be available in the Guidance office. Deadline for submission is April 17, 2020.
New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Association Scholarship: The New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Association (NJELSA) is pleased to announce the availability of college scholarship awards to sons and daughters of active-duty police and fire personnel. The scholarship awards in the amounts of $2,000 for first prize and $1,500 for second prize, are available to qualified high school seniors. New Jersey Utilities Association
National Association of Water Companies New Jersey Chapter: The New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies Association is offering two $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors who will be attending a New Jersey college or university. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and be interested in the water utility industry or in any related field, such as, natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, communication, computer science, business administration, human resources, consumer affairs, law, accounting, etc. The scholarship application may be obtained from: https://nawc.org/chapters/new-
Margate Business Association’s Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship Award Program: Offers two $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors who are Margate or Longport residents. Applications will be available in the Guidance office and online at www.margatehasmore.com. Deadline for submission is April 6, 2020.
New Jersey Credit Union Foundation Scholarship: The New Jersey Credit Union Foundation’s scholarship is an award of $1,000 to be paid jointly to the winning student and the student’s chosen accredited educational institution. The applicant must be a member in good standing of a 2019-2020 Scholarship Program participating credit union and be enrolled as a high school senior at the time of the application. GVCC Luigi A. Tramontana, Sr. Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who is planning to continue his/her education at a recognized college or university in environmental sciences or a business related course of study. Applicants must be an active participant in school and community activities and demonstrate academic responsibility. Please see Guidance for an application. Deadline for submission is June 1, 2020.
El Dabe Ritter Scholarship – This $1,500 scholarship is available to any high school senior in the United States that desires to apply. More information and the scholarship application can be found at https://www.
Law Offices of Peter N. Davis and Associates, LLC – This annual scholarship is available to college students in New Jersey or Pennsylvania who have been accepted to or are enrolled in a 2-year college or 4-year university with a GPA of at least 3.0. One student will be selected to receive $1,000 in scholarship funds and two students will be selected to receive $500 each in scholarship funds based on their winning essay response. Margate City Fire Department Mutual Benevolent Association Kevin P. O’Hara Scholarship – Four $1000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors that are Margate City residents and will be attending an accredited College or University during the Fall of 2020. Scholarship winners will be selected on the basis of financial need, extracurricular activities and academics. Please see Guidance Department for an application. Austin H. and Florence V. Swackhamer Educational Scholarship – The A&F Swackhamer Memorial Scholarship Trust is providing scholarships for deserving students attending high school in Gloucester County, New Jersey that demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. Janet Logan Daily Foundation Scholarship: Managed by the Janet Logan Daily Foundation, the Janet Logan Daily Scholarship is available to New Jersey students that have demonstrated academic success and community involvement. Students must be a legal New Jersey resident who has been working a part time job and been involved with extracurricular activities since the age of 16.
