Scholarship Opportunities

The search for colleges and scholarships go hand in hand.  Fortunately, there are thousands of scholarships out there — if you can find them.  Two ways to research opportunities include stopping by OLMA’s Guidance office and utilizing your Naviance account.  Below is a list of current opportunities,  We will update this list as new scholarships become available, so please check back often.

2019 Scholarship Opportunities:

Gloucester County Hero Scholarship – The scholarship program will be awarding several $500 scholarships to qualified individuals who are furthering their education in any post-secondary institution.  Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, serve in a Fire or EMS agency in Gloucester County or have a parent actively serving or honorably retired from a Police, Fire or EMS agency in Gloucester County, NJ or the Federal Government.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is May 1, 2019.

Atlantic County UNICO Scholarship Foundation – Atlantic County UNICO Scholarship Foundation, Inc. will be offering scholarships to deserving High School seniors in the amount of $1,000 to $5,000.  The number of scholarships and amounts will be based on the applicant pool.  Scholarship applications and all instructions can be obtained on their websitewww.acunico.org.  All applications must be submitted online.  Submission deadline is April 29, 2019.

Lowe-Zerbo Nursing Scholarship – Two awards of $5,000 each will be issued to eligible individuals who are pursuing a career in nursing, and who are formally enrolled in a nursing program.  Applicants must be enrolled in a 4-year nursing studies program, reside in Atlantic County, demonstrate financial need, have documented volunteer service, and provide two letters of recommendation.  Please visit Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is May 31, 2019.

Scott E. Monk Scholarship – A total of four scholarships, in the amount of $5,000, will be awarded.  Applicants are limited to AtlantiCare and Atlantic City-based Acuity employees/dependents who are enrolled in a qualifying 2 or 4-year degree program or who have completed the prerequisites at an accredited college or university for medical or nursing studies.  Please visit Guidance for an application. Orchard Valley Middle School PTO Service Award – One $500.00 aware will be given to a graduating senior that meets the following criteria: has attended OVMS for at least two years, exemplifies the OVMS philosophy of commitment to our community, has maintained a cumulative average of a 2.0 over the course of four years and has been accepted to an accredited college, university or technical trade school.  Please visit Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is April 20, 2019.

Dunkin’ Scholarship – Dunkin’ will award up to 25 $2,000 scholarships to qualified students.  Applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in Fall 2019.  Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of “well-rounded” character: positive academic record, demonstrated leadership, commitment to school and community activities, and experience in a work environment.  Students can access the online application to learn more.scholarsapply.org/dunkinphilly.  Deadline for submission is April 15, 2019.

Aaron Ploch Memorial Scholarship – $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to two graduating seniors that are current members of their high school’s swim or soccer team.  Applicants must have been a member of their respective team for at least two years, have a C or better average, be continuing their education at a two or four-year college and possess the qualities of Aaron’s personality of hard work, friendliness, and happiness.  Please visit Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is April 15, 2019.

GVCC Luigi A. Tramontana, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who will be studying environmental sciences or business, including agriculture, animal, plant, aquaculture or related fields, must be an active participant in school and community activities and must be able to demonstrate academic responsibility.  Please visit Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is June 1, 2019.
Pureland Supply Scholarship – Pureland Supply is offering an annual $1,000 scholarship to high school students interested in attending a Vocational School or Community College.  The scholarship is open for students who have been accepted to an accredited community college, vocational college, technical school, or trade school.  Please visit   https://www.purelandsupply.com/t-scholarship.aspx to apply.  Deadline for submission is June 1, 2019.
ProjectorLamps.com Scholarship – ProjectorLamps.com is offering an annual $1,000 scholarship to a student enrolled as a Business major who may one day be an entrepreneur and start their own business.  Please visit https://www.projectorlamps.com/t-scholarship.aspx to apply.  Deadline for submission is June 1, 2019.

O’Hara-McCormick Memorial Scholarship – Margate City Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association will award $1,000 scholarships to six high school students.  Applicants must be residents of Margate.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is May 4, 2019.
OceanFirst Foundation – OceanFirst has awarded $400,000 in grants to Atlantic Cape Community College, Brookdale Community College, Cumberland County College, Georgian Court University, Monmouth University, Ocean County College, Rowan University, and Stockton University for the purpose of awarding scholarships for undergraduate education.  Applicants must reside in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Middlesex – only Monroe Township, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application.  Please visit Guidance for an application.  All applications must be mailed to the appropriate College/University by May 1, 2019.
Sisters that Are Rendering Service, Inc. Scholarship – The Charitable Arm of Upsilon Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is awarding $1,500 scholarships to three female (one of whom will be attending an HBCU) and one male African-American high school seniors.  Applicants must submit completed application, an official school transcript, two letters of recommendation (one from a counselor or teacher and one from outside of school), a 500-word essay, and a picture.  Please visit Guidance for an application. Deadline for application submission is April 1, 2019.
Italian Cultural Foundation of South Jersey – The Italian Cultural Foundation is offering several scholarships for both students who have studied Italian for a minimum of three (3) years and other students, who, though not having studied Italian, appreciate the richness of Italian culture and its history.  Please see Guidance for an application.  The application is due no later than March 31, 2019.
The Toni Donato-Bolis and Baby RJ Foundation – The Foundation honors Toni and her onboard son, RJ, who lost their lives in a car crash caused by a distracted driver.  The organization awards scholarships to students that donate their time and resources to other families in need.  Applicants must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university, two letters of recommendation, list of awards and honors, list of community service, extracurricular activities and leadership positions, and a 500-word essay.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is April 5, 2019.
The Caring.com Scholarship – Two scholarships of $1,500 are awarded each year to student-caregivers to help cover costs of tuition and books. Applicants must be full-time college students at an accredited two-or-four-year college or university in the United States, or full-time high school students who are registered to attend a qualifying institution the following semester.  Interested students can submit either a 1,500-word essay or a two-minute video.  Please visit the following link for more information on the scholarship. https://www.caring.com/caregivers/scholarships-for-student-caregivers  Deadline for submission is June 30, 2019.
Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship – Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded through the essay competition.  This statewide competition centers on the theme “What My Municipal Government Does Best” and seeks to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of the municipal government.  All applicants must be New Jersey residents and plan to continue their education after high school.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is March 11, 2019.
Jeffrey K. Israelow and R. Robert Fleming Scholarship – Each scholarship awarded will be for the sum of $500 per year, to be available to the successful applicant for each year of consecutive full-time attendance in good standing at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.  Applicants must be full-time residents of Cape May County.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is April 15, 2019.
Vineland Rotary Scholarship Program – Vineland Rotary will be excepting applications from all of the eligible students based on the scholarship criteria.  Please visit the following webpage to view the instructions on how to apply. http://members.vinelandrotary.com/forms/scholarship-application 
Deadline for submission is April 11. 2019.

Wendy Saltzburg Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two Estell Manor Elementary School graduates who are graduating seniors at one of the following high schools: Buena Regional, Atlantic County Institute of Technology, Ocean City, St. Augustine Prep, and Our Lady of Mercy Academy.  Applicants must be a graduate of Estell Manor Elementary School, have a minimum GPA of 3.25, demonstrate a commitment to community service and demonstrate a commitment to extracurricular activities in high school.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is May 1, 2019.

AAA South Jersey Scholarship Contest – AAA South Jersey Driving School Is sponsoring its annual essay contest for local high school seniors.  The winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship to a two-or-four year accredited educational institution.  For more information, visit www.AAA.com/scholarship.  The deadline for entries to be received by AAA South Jersey is March 31, 2019.

NJUA Excellence in Diversity Scholarship – The New Jersey Utilities Association awards a scholarship to a qualified, deserving New Jersey high school senior who meets the eligibility criteria.  The Association will award two four year scholarships providing $1,500 per academic year to students selected by the Scholarship Review Committee who will be attending college in New Jersey.  Requirements for eligibility, selection criteria, and application forms can be found at www.NJUA.com.  Deadline for submission is April 6, 2019.

National Association of Water Companies Scholarship – The New Jersey Chapter of the NAWC is offering two $2,500 scholarships to high school students who will be attending a New Jersey college or university and is interested in the water utility industry or any related field.  Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have been a New Jersey resident for 5 years.  Scholarship applications can be found at www.njua.com (“News Feed” — Scholarships Now Available).  Deadline for submission is April 1, 2019.

Project Yellow Light – Project Yellow Light is a scholarship competition designed to bring about change.  People know texting and driving is dangerous, but they do it anyway.  Applicants have one clear mission: create a PSA (billboard or video) to encourage friends to avoid distracted driving, specifically texting while driving.  Submission requirements can be found on www.projectyellowlight.com.  Deadline for billboard submission is March 1, 2019 and video submission is April 1, 2019.

Diocese of Camden Black Catholic Ministries’ Commission – The diocese will be awarding up to two scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to Catholic high school graduating twelfth-grade students.  Applicants must be African American or of African descent and be a practicing Catholic.  For more information, call (856) 583-2904 or see Guidance for an application packet.  Deadline for submission is March 15, 2019.

Northfield Mothers’ League Scholarship – A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior that is a Northfield resident.  A one-page application and a 250-word essay is required.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is May 6, 2019.

Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame Scholarship – The Board of Trustees awards $500 scholarships each year to graduating college-bound female seniors from Atlantic County.  The applicants must demonstrate her excellence in academic achievement, as well as, leadership and community involvement.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is February 28, 2019.

Austin H. & Florence V. Swackhamer Memorial Educational Scholarship – The A&F Swackhamer Memorial Scholarship Trust is providing scholarships for deserving students attending high school in Gloucester County, New Jersey that demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. Eligible scholarship candidates can apply online at www.csascholars.org/swkh.  Deadline for submission is March 8, 2019.

New Jersey State Elks Association Special Children’s Scholarship Award – This scholarship is available to any and all high school seniors that are physically and/or mentally challenged and will be furthering their education after graduating from high school. Students will be evaluated on their academic record and financial need.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is April 19, 2019.

Janet Logan Daily Foundation – $10,000 evenly distributed over four years awarded to graduating high school seniors from New Jersey enrolling full-time in an accredited university or college.  Applicants must meet the following criteria: students must have worked an average of 30 hours per week during the summer since the age of 16 (paid positions only), actively participate in at least one extra-curricular activity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Applicants can apply online at www.janetlogandailyfoundation.org.  Deadline for submission is April 1, 2019.  

Margate Business Association Daniel and Maria Walters Scholarship:  The Margate Business Association is offering two $2,500 scholarship awards to two Margate or Longport student residents who have attended Margate elementary schools (public or private), will graduate from an area high school in May/June 2019, and have been accepted to and will be attending an accredited institution of higher learning.  Please see Guidance for an application packet.  Deadline for submission is April 8, 2019.

Bill of Rights Institute Essay Contest – An essay contest open to all high school students.  All submissions must be made online. 1st Place – $5,000, Runners Up – six prizes at $1,250 each, Honorable Mention – eight prizes at $500 each.  Please visit https://billofrightsinstitute.org/engage/students-programs-events/scholarship/ for contest guidelines and submission information.  Deadline for submission is February 14, 2019.

Gloucester Township Day Scholarship – The Gloucester Township Day Scholarship Committee will award 45 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to be applied toward expenses at an accredited college or university.  To be eligible, students must reside in Gloucester Township, earn a score of at least 800 on the SAT or a Composite Score of at least 17 on the ACT, and rank in the top 50% of her class or have a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.  Please see Guidance for an application.  Deadline for submission is February 22, 2019.

New Jersey Electronic Security Association – Awarded to the daughter of an active duty NJ police or fire department employee.  There are two scholarship awards: $1,500 (first place) and $1,000 (second place).  Visit www.nj-esa.org/scholarship for more information and to submit an application.  Deadline for submission is March 1, 2019.
