February 22, 2018, Newfield, NJ – Our Lady of Mercy Academy announced today the selection of Doug Burhanna as its new Head Soccer Coach and Elise Krogman as Head Tennis Coach for the 2018-2019 season.

Burhanna will replace Shawn Swanger, who coached OLMA Soccer to the South Jersey State Championship game in 2016 and to the semifinals in 2017. Under his leadership, three athletes broke OLMA all-time scoring records, including University of Miami scholar-athlete, Tia DuPont. Admired by students and parents alike, Swanger resigned his coaching post due to a job relocation to northern NJ.

Burhanna transitions to OLMA Soccer from the Head Tennis Coach position he filled for the school during the 2017-2018 season. Burhanna has coached soccer for many years, most recently, as Assistant Coach for St. Augustine Prep’s highly ranked program. He also coached tennis at St. Augustine Prep.

Replacing Burhanna at the helm of the OLMA Tennis Team will be Elise Krogman, formerly Assistant Head Tennis Coach for OLMA and current Head Fencing Coach at St. Augustine Prep.

“Doug and Elise are both highly experienced and effective coaches with the passion necessary to inspire and motivate their players to give their all each and every day,” said Matt Lenguadoro, OLMA Athletic Director. “We are fortunate to have them as part of our coaching staff and look forward to their success as OLMA’s athletics program continues to grow.”
