Host Family Opportunities Available

By OLMA Headlines

Dear OLMA Families and Friends,

Have you ever thought about hosting an exchange student?  If so, we invite you to join our resident Rotarian, Mary Jane Kinkade, and representatives from the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee to find out more.

For those of you who were part of OLMA last year, you’ve no doubt heard of Marina Dolz.  Marina arrived last August and spent an entire school year with us at OLMA.  She was hosted by three OLMA families — the Durhams, McNelias and Bakers.  Each family hosted Marina for 3-4 months — and would have kept her forever if they could!

Marina returned to Spain earlier this month — after having the time of her life this past year.  Not only did she become part of the OLMA family, but she explored many of our nation’s landmarks, learned about U.S. history and culture, and accompanied her host sisters on college visits. She loved her time here so much that she is hoping to return for college after she graduates next spring.

Just before she left, SNJ Today came to OLMA to do a short story about Marina and her experiences in South Jersey.  Take a look here.

In late August, OLMA will become the home away from home for another Rotary Youth Exchange Student.  She will be a senior and is from Italy.  She is a wonderful young woman — an excellent student, involved in sports and many other extracurricular activities, is an officer in her local Interact club, and more.

She will be hosted by the D’Adamo family from August until just before Christmas.  We are looking for two additional host families for her. While an OLMA family is ideal for hosting, your friends and/or relatives are also welcome to participate.

If you have any interest, or are simply curious about how it all works, we encourage you to attend the information/training session on Monday, August 14th, at 6:30 PM.  It will take place at the Rotary District 7640 Office located at:

470 North Delsea Drive
(Bank of America Building – Second Floor)
Vineland, New Jersey 08360

Please RSVP to Mrs. Kinkade at:  mrs.kinkade@olmanj.org or by calling (856) 697-2008).  Hosting a student will change you life for the better in ways that you could never imagine.  Come find out more — and feel free to reach out to one of Marina’s host families with questions.  Thank you.

OLMA Welcomes New Athletic Director

By OLMA Headlines

Greetings from The Academy!

We have some exciting news to share.  Today, we announced the addition of Matt Lenguadoro as OLMA’s new Athletic Director. Mr. Lenguadoro will be charged with managing and advancing our school’s rapidly growing athletics program, which currently consists of 12 competitive sports.

“Our athletics program is at a pivotal point as we build the school’s enrollment,” said Brooke Coyle, Head of School. “Mr. Lenguadoro’s more than 30 years of experience as a coach, teacher and administrator makes him the perfect choice for leading OLMA’s athletics program into a new era of excellence.  We are thrilled to have him as part of our team and look forward to great things ahead.”

Most recently, Mr. Lenguadoro served as the Health and Physical Education Department Chairperson & Athletic Site Manager at Hammonton High School.

In addition to his work at Hammonton, he has coached football, baseball, softball, and wrestling for various middle and high schools throughout South Jersey including:  St. Augustine Prep, Delran High School, Cherry Hill East High School, Bensalem High School, and Queen of Heaven Middle School.

“I couldn’t be more excited to become part of The Academy,” said Lenguadoro.  “I’ve coached girls for many years and find them to be extremely dedicated and willing to work hard to be their best and to contribute to the larger team.  OLMA’s athletics program offers many opportunities for its students to grow athletically, as well as develop valuable teamwork and leadership skills.  I look forward to being part of that.”

Mr. Lenguadoro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University and earned a Master of Science degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University. He currently lives in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Please join us in giving Mr. Lenguadoro a warm OLMA welcome!
